Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the relationship between a client and a counselor, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. However, I am required to disclose confidential information to appropriate authorities under the following circumstances:

Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.

If a woman is pregnant and has used a controlled substance for nonmedical purposes during her pregnancy or has consumed alcoholic beverages in any way that is habitual or excessive during her pregnancy, I must immediately make a report to the local welfare agency.

If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person/s, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

If a client intends to harm himself or herself, I will make every effort to enlist his or her cooperation in ensuring his or her safety. If he or she does not cooperate, I will take further measures without his or her permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure his or her safety.
